Interior design is the design of a space that not only meets the needs of it’s users but is also styled in a way that is safe and aesthetically pleasing. Interior design is a strong and subconscious part of our everyday lives that affects how we live, work, play and even heal. My aim is to create comfortable rooms that make the most of the space and create a positive emotional response for those who use it.
-
An interior designer will work with clients to understand the purpose of a space, who will be using it, the activities that will take place in it and what time of the day they will take place. Once all this is understood they will consult to agree layouts, colour schemes, fabrics, floor coverings, lighting, furniture and fittings to then produce 2D and 3D rendered plans before finally sourcing and recommending suppliers. Some interior designers will also project manage the realisation of the design.
-
Research shows that interior designers in the UK typically charge £50 - £200 per hour. Some offer flat fees for projects ranging from £2,000 to £10,000 depending on the location and size of the project. Others charge a percentage of the total project cost. This percentage is usually between 5-10%.
-
An interior designer will save you time. If there is no time in your day to even work out in your mind exactly what you would like to do with your space, let alone start planning and shopping, then its worth thinking about delegating the task to a professional interior designer.
An interior designer will save you money. With their professional knowledge they can help you avoid making costly mistakes such as selecting the wrong shade of colour or ordering furniture that is too big for the space; and they can recommend materials that are the most durable or appropriate for your needs.
An interior designer will create a room that you emotionally connect with and that is better than you could have imagined. Interior designers have been trained to think creatively, spatially and learn to see an overall picture in a room that often those that live there can’t see.
An interior designer will help you define your style. Skilled at extracting what thoughts you are having about your room, an interior designer will work with you to define your personal style and preferences to agree an overall design concept before anything else.
An interior designer should take the stress away and generate excitement. Let the weight and headache of re-designing your room or entire home be lifted off your shoulders into the skilled hands of your interior designer.
An interior designer will keep you in budget! Knowing how to avoid costly mistakes is one thing but an interior designer will also know where to spend and where to save on items.
An interior designer will create rooms that add value to your home. Designs created by an interior designer ensure the most is made out of your rooms and that they are stylish and practical. This ultimately leads to greater value.

There are a number of things that make me different from many other interior designers.
Firstly, it is my aim to make great interior design services affordable for everyone therefore, unlike many other interior designers, I offer a transparent flat fee service, with my services start from just £70!
Talking of services, many interior designers will only engage if they have multiple rooms to create designs for. I realise many of us create our homes one room at a time. This is why my services offer great design for single rooms upwards.
Unlike a traditional designer I don’t install the design for you, however I give you everything you need, including the confidence, to do it yourself. This makes the design service really affordable.
I’m also different because when I recommend products and retailers to you, I don’t receive any commission.
Some people fear that an interior designer will take over the design decisions and end up with something that isn’t what they wanted at all. I don’t do that. Together we will create a result that you are 100% happy with.
Being a trained, professional interior designer is a second career for me, having had a successful, hectic first career in corporate business. I am therefore not focussed on maximising my profit or significantly growing my business. This is my hobby business to keep me out of mischief! Therefore I am motivated by and love nothing more than seeing a client light up with excitement to begin their room transformation.
I work for myself from home. Not only does this keep my overhead costs down, but it also means each and every client I have is really personal to me and, as such, I offer the best care.
-
My drive is to make great interior design affordable for everyone. I therefore make my pricing as transparent as possible and offer flat fee packages, so you know what you’re paying up front.
Please see my services page for my various packages and their costs. If you want something that isn’t listed - please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Please also note - I don’t qualify for charging VAT!
-
The short answer is yes.
If you want something that isn’t listed under my services please still get in touch with me. Once I have understood what it is you want, I will send you a quote for delivering this service to you. You then decide to proceed or not.

This will always depend on the size of your room and what you are looking to keep and change, but I will always work to whatever budget you have in mind.
As a guide many clients spend between £5,000 - £7,500 for a typical bedroom, living or dining room. Smaller spaces, such as hallways, will cost considerably less, while kitchens and bathrooms can be tens of thousands.
Just to reiterate, I will work with whatever budget you have in mind.
-
There are some limitations to my services.
My in person service, where I visit your home and we meet in person is only available across West Yorkshire and into Lancashire. If you live further afield, I can provide my services to you using remote meeting technology such as Whatsapp or Microsoft Teams. I’m afraid you will need a tape measure though!
My paint selections are limited to Little Greene, Farrow and Ball and Dulux Heritage colours - there are however many colour options across these paint manufacturers.
The estimated volume of paint is just that and your chosen trades person should calculate the amount required in their quote to you.
-
The process we will go through is detailed under each service on my Services page. Just click on the link to view them.
-
There are a number of ways we can keep in touch during and after the service has been completed.
These include by phone, email, Whatsapp messaging and video calling, and Microsoft Teams meetings.
You can tell me your preferred method of communication during our initial discussion and I will take your lead on this.
-
Whilst most of my clients are happy with digital samples, I do understand that physical samples can bring additional assurance.
I charge £12 plus any postage for a physical sample board. Where reasonable I will always deliver these in person to avoid postage costs.
Alternatively you can order any physical samples yourself from the retailers.
-
Unlike many other interior designers I don’t receive any commission for recommending retailers. This means I can shop anywhere to source the perfect product for you.
Where possible I will recommend local small businesses, but only if they are competitive and I am happy with the quality.
We’ll discuss your shopping preferences during our consultation and I will always take your lead.
-
Maybe, depending on where you live.
Through the development of my own home and previous projects I have used local architects, contractors for building work, moving radiators, installing electrics, laying flooring and painting and decorating.
I can make recommendations for these people, however it would be your responsibility to contact and manage them and I cannot accept any responsibility or liability for their work.
-
When and how much you will need to pay is all set out in the terms of engagement I will send out for signing if you wish to proceed after our first consultation call.
AtP “What If” FAQs
-
The first stage of the design process will be to get to know you and your style preference in order to agree a design concept. This is important as it will ensure I have a really clear idea of what you like before I begin the design.
Each package has at least one opportunity to discuss and feedback on the proposed design. From these I will make the changes you are looking to be made and suggest alternatives for any element of the design. If you are still not 100% happy, then further revisions can be offered at an additional charge.
-
Interior design is really personal. Getting on and feeling comfortable with each other is really important. If either of us feel we are not a good fit then we can cancel the service.
-
It’s very rare that two or more people have the same design tastes. That’s even more reason for getting me involved. It’s useful to know this at the beginning of the design journey so that I can hear the different wants and needs to ensure I come up with a design that you will both (all) love.
-
Absolutely!
Having delivered interior design solutions as far as Ireland, I know I can offer a great remote interior design service.
Get in touch, let me know where you are and ensure you have a good tape measure!

I make product recommendations in good faith that retailers and suppliers provide accurate descriptions, dimensions and images on their websites. Where possible I will visit a local branch to see the product / fabric for myself. I also have good faith that they will provide a quality delivery service and product.
However, it is your responsibility to order the items and familiarise yourself with their returns and refund policy just in case it is not what you expect or arrives damaged. While I have good experience of working with retailers and suppliers, I cannot accept any responsibility or liability for their goods.
